Cuprion Anti-Fouling Equipment

The Cuprion® range of anti-fouling solutions deliver long term, effective and cost-efficient protection against hard biofouling.

Mussels, Clams and Zebra Clams can build up in pump intakes, impeller chambers and downstream piping, reducing the efficiency of your pumps and increasing your maintenance burden. The Cuprion® range includes copper, aluminium and chlorine-based electrolytic systems, which can be tailored to suit your exact requirements. Systems can be safe area or hazardous area compliant and are fully ATEX and IECEx certified.

Cuprion® anti-fouling systems - the most effective protection for your investment.

DECK MOUNTED

Where multiple pumps with differing duty cycles need to be protected, the Cuprion® deck-mounted system is the perfect choice. Situated on the platform deck, this system generates biocides in-situ, which are then distributed through the platform process pipework and injected into the pump intake. This system can deliver protection to multiple pumps from one location and can vary its output automatically, to provide the required level of protection whatever the duty cycle of the pumps.

Deck mounted systems consist of one or more biocide generating cells and the pipework and valving necessary to connect them into the distribution pipework. Normally fabricated out of GRE, we can also offer systems in other materials to suit any requirements or operator standards.

Deck mounted systems require less maintenance than a pump mounted system. The anodes can be removed and replaced in a matter of hours rather than requiring the removal and re-insertion of a pump from its caisson.

Deck mounted systems are typically fed with a lower flow rate than that of the pump(s), as a result of this the output levels of the biocide are higher than the levels required at the pump intake. This requires infrastructure downstream of the package to direct the dosed water to the required pump where the biocide levels are diluted to the required level by the full pump flow rate. CPC can assist with the design and implementation of this distribution infrastructure if necessary.

PUMP MOUNTED

Where single pumps or caissons need protecting, Cuprion® pump mounted systems are the perfect choice. Pump mounted systems locate the electrode assembly directly at the pump intake, to deliver anti-fouling protection directly into the pump stack and downstream pipework. The system automatically adapts to the pump operating mode. Maintenance is usually tied to that of the pump, to ensure maintenance burden is minimized.

The Cuprion® pump mounted system comprises copper and aluminum anodes mounted in an electrode frame, which attaches to the pump intake via an adapter. Advanced control systems automatically regulate the voltage and current delivered to the anodes to generate the exact amount of biocide required, resulting in long-lasting, effective protection against marine fouling. We have experience of working will major pump manufacturers and can offer standard pump fittings to keep costs low.

Our large range of power supplies offer a range of features from simple, single-mode operation through to fully automated systems which are controlled by the platform control system and report into advanced logging and monitoring platforms.

We are licensed under the EU Biocidal taskforce to use Copper for biocidal purposes. Copper is an effective anti-foulant which prevents the formation of biofilms within the pump and protected surfaces. By removing this source of nutrition, growth of muscles and other hard-fouling marine organisms is discouraged.

SHIP BASED

Bio-Fouling of seawater intakes on ships & marine vessels can be a major problem, causing expensive equipment damage and pipework blockages and leading to shut down of vital seawater supplies. CPCL have a range of vessel-specific systems that can prevent this bio-fouling and prolong the life of these essential systems.

Ships and other marine vessels rely completely on sea water processing to provide potable water, cooling water and water necessary to support other industrial processes. Bio-fouling of this water presents a tangible risk to the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. CPCL understand the importance of these systems and have developed a range of sea chest-specific products which provide long-lasting, effective protection against hard marine fouling, and are easy to maintain.

The power requirements of the electrolytic system can be as low as 0.5 kW and systems range from basic power supplies through to more complex control panels that integrate with ship-board control and monitoring systems.

INDUSTRIAL

Many industrial processes require vast quantities of water to be pumped around the facility. The pumps which serve this critical demand, often suffer from bio-fouling and so we have a range of anti-fouling products ideally suited to these requirements.

CPCL have developed a range of electrolytic anti-fouling products specifically for industrial purposes, such as power station cooling water, chemical processing and other large-scale industries.

Our screen-based electrode frames locate directly into the incoming water channel and dose the water with biocide before it enters the pump. Sliding screens can be installed onto our electrode frames, providing coarse filtering of the water and prevent debris from entering expensive, critical pumps.

The electrode screens are designed to be easy and quick to replace and can be craned in and out in a matter of hours, ensuring that any costly interruption to service is minimized.
